Warner Bros. has unveiled the official logo for their upcomingJustice League film, along with a synopsis of the plot (viaComicBookResources).
The official synopsis seems to pick up right where Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice left off, with Batman and Wonder Woman assembling a Superman-less League to stave off an alien threat. Here's the full text:
Fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes—Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash—it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.
"[Batman]'s a little bit more sardonic, a little more irony," Affleck explained of his character's evolved attitude in Justice League. "He's a little more of a man on a mission this time. As opposed to, he was so full of anger because of what happened at the Black Zero event. That sort of rage that possessed him. And now he’s on a mission to get this group together; to constitute this League. But more of that sort of Bruce Wayne, wry, ironic gallows humor comes out. He's not like a 'haha' jokey, but that sort of stuff comes out a little bit. A bit of his darker humor is present."
As for which threat the League is uniting against, that was also revealed. According toCBR, the Justice League will indeed be fighting one of the villainous New Gods - just not the one everyone expected.
Rather than Darkseid, the Lord of Apokolips, Justice League's main villain will be Steppenwolf. Created by Jack Kirby, Steppenwolf is Darkseid's general and often leads his advance invasion forces. Steppenwolf appeared briefly in a deleted scene from Batman v Superman (though his identity was not confirmed at the time).
The use of Steppenwolf, along with the idea of Superman as a villain in the "Knightmare" sequence of BvS suggests that Justice League may take some cues from Earth 2, in which Steppenwolf invades Earth ahead of Darkseid's arrival, and a dead Superman is resurrected to serve Darkseid.
Justice League is scheduled to hit theaters November 17, 2017.
